Default STI 7 Flocked dash ... mini project

Hey chaps,

Some may have seen this in another thread. Ive my owns small mini project going on in my STI 7.

Plan was to install 3 Defis, which soon changed to 6 Defis when i thought about the tuning i had in mind.

Then i thought i didnt like the interior dash panels silver so i decided to go matt black.

Then oh well why not rip the lot out and flock it.. WRC style

This thread will be updated as things happen and please bare with my pics as theyre all from a phone lol

So here she is before i started

I bought a 2 gauge pillar pod which orginally housed my ACT gauge and Innovate wideband. This pod was now going to be used to house the extra 3 Defis ... the other 3 would be in a dash top Defi pod.

A good friend of mine modified the twin pod and added a 3rd gauge pod to make a tripple.

I dont think a tripple pod is available to purchase for the newage impreza.. this started life as a brand new Nomad Racing item

Here it is

With all the WRC ideas i had floating about i felt the stock MOMO 4 spoke steering wheel wouldnt of looked very nice so i sourced myself an STI8 wheel with airbag and clock spring. The wheel had to odd mark on it so i stripped it and sent it to a trimmer for a touch of smooth leather with red stitching

Im awaiting this to come back from the trimmers this week

Here she is stripped

So with my pillar pod now occupied by 3 Defis i needed somewhere to house the ACT and wideband. I could of mounted these near the stereo but i feel these are 2 of the most important gauges i need and should be in direct view of the driver.

Once again my good friend who did the pillar pod was signed up to mod the steering column cover to house these 2 meters.

Here she is .. and will also be flocked to match the dash

Absolute quality.
Is the steering wheel pod fibreglass? Looks a bit sturdier, plastic molding perhaps.
What model is your car? I cannot tell from the inside.

No mate the steering cowling is the OEM item that has been modified. My friend that made em works in the prototype mouldings department and he used some ultra lightweight plasitc resin to smooth it all in.. Its weird cos it seriously feels no heavier than the stock item but looks like it should weigh a ton lol.

The car is a 2002 STI Prodrive edition.

Sorry but this pic is not up to date

frayz, do you mind me asking how much the trimmers quoted to do the wheel in leather? I want mine trimmed in alcantara but have no idea how much it would cost. Cheers.

Depends on the quality of hydes mate and if the trimmer has to buy it in or not. mines costing me £100.

Call Richard and tell him frayz with the impreza sent ya. He's a really really nice bloke. He mainly does Porsches but also did the VW Corrado on the cover of last months Performance VW.
