Default Fitting DEFI BF gauges

I've just got hold of a set of DEFI BF gauges - boost/oil temp and oil pressure 2nd hand. Along with the controller 2 unit pod and actual guages i have both the oil temp and pressure sensors.

After reading the manual it says to "get a commercially availabe sensor adaptor" for fitting both - one to go inbetween the oil filter for the temp and the other is like a screw-in extentsion for the pressure.

Are these adaptors needed to fit on to a blob-eye impreza or do they screw stright into the block?

I've need heard people talk about buying these when getting their own sorted.

any help would be a big help!

Thanks,

I just fitted a set of BF's and they came with the sensors that fit straight into the block. Except the boost of course which T's into the vacuum pipe.

I fitted everything myself bar the oil temp and Pressure sensors as in order to do this required the intercooler and alternator to be removed, although watching it being done I could probably do it now with the right tools.

Good Luck!

Oil pressure can screw straight into the block inder the alternator, it replaces the original, useless, sensor.

The oil temp is located just above the 3 cylinder, you'll see a plug that need's an 8mm allen socket to remove, to fit the sender you'll need an adaptor.
Got mine from http://www.xtremescoobies.ltd.uk/

If yours are second hand then you might have the adaptor already fitted to the temp sender.
I think, but probably wrong, the sender is 3/8" and needs a 7/8 adaptor to fit.

Thumbs up

Just to add: No.3 cylinder is at the rear, driver's side, (o/s). The plug is NOT easy to see, but easier if you remove the intercooler, which takes all of 5 minutes!

You then need a LONG 8mm Allem key. I bought mine especially, it had a T handle and cost £7. The plug is TIGHT, to get a good Allen key, no rounded edges!

My adaptor for oil temp came from Scoobymania, and cost £8. It's quite hard to reach the hole you need, so I started it in it's threads by GENTLY screwing a plastic ball-point barrel INTO IT, then starting it until it was tight, rocked it gently and unscrewed the pen barrel, and tightened the adaptor with a socket. DON'T overdo it if your adaptor is alloy! Just enough to nip it up, then check for leaks after a day or two.

Don't forget to wrap some PTFE tape around any new threads you put in, like the senders, adaptors, in order to keep everything leak-free.

Second that, adaptor already fitted, just need that long 8mm allen key and lots of swearing to remove the b@stard plug now

My advice would be an allen socket and you'll need an extension bar for that

May be of use to you Rob.

Also the adaptor you have is not the genuine Subaru part, but it looks ok, if you have problems we have the Subaru ones in stock.
