4 point harness fitting advice and legality?
Thinking of fitting a 4 point sabelt or similar harness into my classic. Has anyone fitted one before? can you use existing bolts in the rear or do you have to drill and fit some new eye bolts (dont like the sound of that)
Also whats the legality if you drive around using your harness and thus are not wearing your seatbelt?
Thanks.

Unsure of legality, but as to safety - 4 point harnesses should really only be used with caged cars as, if you roll it, and the roof comes in, you stand a good chance of breaking your neck as you are held rigid, whereas with the OEM diagonal belt you can move, or be moved, sideways.
In addition, all upper harness mountings should be mounted as near to shoulder height as possible (according to the RACMSA) as mounting low down on the back seat as mentioned can cause the seat back to collapse through having to resist forces it's not designed to. (The parcel shelf isn't strong enough either).
I use the OEM equipment on the road, but when on track in the p1 i put in my padded Safety Devices removable roll cage with 4 points mounted on a proper harness bar and wear a good helmet.
Aside from the above, 4 points are not as comfortable on the road and can be a royal pain in the **** - e.g. you have to undo them to turn the radio on or if you forgot to shut the door first, etc - so just pose value on the road IMHO.
