Default classic dash fadeing

anybodys classic dashboard started fadeing really badley?

mine started ontop of the clocks when parked in the sun, tried everything, all kinds of dressing, cleaning it up, nothing worked

car went away for a rebuild, and must have been parked in the sun for a month or so and when it came back the entire dash was grey/purple

i have recoloured it back to satin black with paint and a sponge, well its had 2 coats so far, and needs another, but its a long and pain in the **** task

nothing else inside the car has faded at all

StickyMicky,

Mine did the same a couple of days ago and the solution I found was to paint it with black vinyl dashboard paint by Halfords. There is no difference with the original colour. Spray one layer per day....leave it until it is completely dry and then polish it very smoothly.

Make sure the surface it very clean and cover your windscreen and air vents.

did the cloth not leave fibres in the paint?

just try maguirs (spelling could be wrong there!!!!!)
they do a dash board shine stuff, works a treat. in a red bottle with spray especially for vinyl, rubbers and plastics - trim basically. looks nice and smells nice gives it a nice deep shine and not sticky.

edit to say - didnt realise how bad it was!!! perhaps a new dash!!!
or give that halfrauds stuff ago!!
