Default DEFI or SECS computer?

Got my new WRX300.....happy...not sure about the interior, considering they said this was the best I seem to pine for my classic interior.....

Anyway, considering DEFI gauges, and see that there are some bug/blob eye three pod jobbies in the top, but cant seem to see where these are for sale (the pods not the gauges!), and cant seem to see how they would fit?! Am I missing something here.

Is the SECS computer worth justifying the extra cost?

OK I've seen the pods for MY03, but will this fit on new facelift? I assume the whole top comes out with the clock inside?

I might get one of these as I had them before on my MY98 and P1, though I didnt install these myself (dealer did it..)

Is anyone using these and are they easy to fit?

The new SECS can be bought with VFD instead of LCD, so better in sunlight now.

I was facing the same dilemma recently; Defis or S.E.C.S unit.

The Defi are easy to ready in any condition and personally I think they blend in with the original dash nicely. I must admit when I first saw them in the flesh, they appeared smaller (and better) than what I thought they’d be like.

The S.E.C.S units may give you information overload, but you have to spend even more money on buying the extra kit required for oil pressure/temperature readout. Also, I felt I’d run into the back of something whilst scrolling through the readouts.

Remember when you got your first Timex LED watch back in the 70’s and thought “this is the future”? Well, I only ever bought two of them (inc an LCD one ) and have stuck with good old fashion, easy to read analogue watches ever since.

You pay your money and you take you choice

Anyone got the genuine STI genome ones installed? Are these DEFI's or not? As they look similar. I understand these are options for JDM. I see STI Racing has them listed, anyone got them from new?

Like I said, the picture is rubbish (I took it to show where they mount the control unit in 05 cars) , but I am really pleased with the guages.

for me it would be secs monitor.

far more variety of information displayable, neater package witout the clutter.

You spend less time worrying what the gauges say and mroe time looking at the road.

Much cheaper

and has a delta dash function for things like knock count and ignition retard.

You would have to buy a lot of defis to get that kind of information.

What is the score with removing the double din stereo? Do you have to get a bracker to convert the hole into 2 x 1 dins?
