To be honest, plastics which have a matt or textured finish (i.e. not shiny) will be very hard to restore. You can polish out scratches on a CD for example but only because you're making it shiny again. You don't really want to do this with your entire door trim.

Scratches in plastic can look worse than they are if they're trapping dirt. Try something like Auto Glym's Hi-Foam Interior Shampoo. It might help.

Halfrauds do a own brand plastic polish that comes in a toothpaste type tube.
I used it on my convertable's plastic rear screen and although a lot of rubbing was required, it did remove a lot of swirl marks / scratches.
Only cost a couple of quid so it maybe worth a try.

Good tip that, although if I'm honest I don't think it'll help Rasher who needs to get scratches out of a pitted/rough surface. Ironically, you can actually use toothpaste (gritty ones) to polish out scratches on the backs of CD/DVDs and the official substances aren't too dissimilar (albeit not minty fresh) I expect the stuff from Halfords was very similar.

We used to use Plastic X on Aircraft canopies.
Its very good, but is very similar to the Halfrauds stuff - so not much use in this application.
Why not trawl the breakers for a good door card - I've a list of approx 20 Subaru breakers you could try.
E mail me for a copy.
