Default those who have fitted aftermarket steering wheels

am wondering what size you went for.

Can't remember diameter of standard 22B wheel, but am after something to replace it.

Seen a few wheels I like but they come in a size choice of 320mm or 350mm.

So far one person has told me that 320 is way too small.

Any thoughts or experiences?

thanks in advance

Adam,

I think the standard Nardi wheel is 360mm. I'm using an OMP WRC wheel on mine (which is 350mm), slightly smaller than the standard Nardi wheel, and has a thicker rim and is semi dished.

Dave.

Question

That looks suspiciously like a '98 car or later to me

Yet, when I've asked about a fitting kit for a Momo wheel on my '98 car, I've been told "not on Subarus, sir".

How did you do it/where did you get parts from, please?
And who fitted it, or did you do it yourself? If so, what of the airbag?

I believe I bought that from Demon Tweaks...I don't think they have mode one for the 2L turbo in particular.. I will check the invoice on Monday when I get back into work..

I have to cancel my indicators manually, was told as this is a competition wheel!

also

The boss, did not allow for a wire to be run from the horn as the whole boss turns with the wheel, hence I had moved the horn just under the handbrake as in the pic.

Lastly…I had to trim a bit of the plastic casing away for the Boss to turn as it was touching. If you look at the pic, the plastic around the boss is just about right.

This is a MY98 car...Airbag light was also disconnected from the Speedo...

thanks for the advice guys.

why do you have to cancel the indicators manually?

I know there is a difficult to remove ring which relates to this, but is it part of there being an airbag there, because my car doesn't have an airbag.

Sam, do you find the smaller wheel obscures the dials at all?

I also stuck a momo millenium on my WRX 96. I love it. IMO a massive improvement on the Nardi. I got the wheel new from e-bay and the boss from halfords. 39 quid. They only had upto a 96 on their books for some reason.

Default Boss

I just bought a "boss converter" from ebay to convert Nardi to Momo fitting. Cost about £15 + delivery. Fitted a 320mm and find it OK.

my nardi doesn't seem to have a boss.

looks like the wheel and boss are integral.

btw. thanks for the replies guys, just won my auction on ebay for the wheel I was after for ages since seeing it on another post.

turned out to be 350 after all.

The Nardi wheel that came with my JDM WRX (very early version) seems to have the same wheel as the 22B, just going of the pics tho. I took the centre cover off which covered some of the spokes too and unbolted the wheel. Then my Momo bolted directly to the boss, no adaptor neede. 320mm and no way is it too small, beefs up the sterring nicely.

I took the cover off the standard wheel last night and there seems to be an integral boss, but it doesn't look removable.

Tone, was the standard boss mounted inside the original nardi?

after you put the momo on, what did you cover the visible parts of the boss with?

Strange it doesn't look removable. Once the outer cover was off i had several small allen nuts holding the wheel on the boss, same PCD as my MOMO wheel. The boss itself looks like any momo, OMP etc boss.... so there are no visible parts that need covering. Not sure what you mean by that bit.

I could take more pics of my wheel and boss if need... i'll try to find a library pic of what my old wheel looks like. Or you can see it one of the many Impreza books (they have all the orginal JDM brochure pics), the one with the WRC bug eye on the front. Forgot the name... doh. What wheel did you have in your old MY93 WRX, was it the same Nardi as in the 22B?

Tony.
