My gear **** has become loose, and now moves both clockwise & anti-clockwise, how is it fasten to the gear stick, does it screw on, or is it held with a screw? I have tried severla things, but it doesn't seem to get any tighter.

Its a 99 classic.

They have a thread in them, that is, if it's the OE ****.

I'd be inclined to give it an extra one turn to see if that does the trick.
