Default MY03 WRX rear seat removal - how?

My MY03 WRX seems to have developed an annoying rattle which appears to to coming from the top of the rear seat touching the metalwork of the parcel shelf. I can easily see and have taken out the base and saw the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the back part in place. Are there any bolts or suchlike at the top of the back of the seat near where the armrest folds down. I need to put some padding or something in there because it is driving me mad unless I've got the radio on.

Thanks,

Andy

No there are no bolts at the top. The back rest just lifts up and unhooks

Thanks for that. I'll have to get my tools out and see if I can cure this rattle.

Car still rattles after I've had it all apart and put back together again. Not too difficult to remove seats etc but a bit time consuming. Even had the kids trying to work out where the noise is coming from. Think I'll not bother again for the time being and just put the radio on instead.

Just a wild thought but,There seems to be a common rattle on the back end of most of the 03-04 wrx/sti range my dealer has booked my car in on friday to fit new struts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i surgest you speak to your dealer matey as car obviously under warranty.let them sort it for you!

if its the same rattle as mine, then it seems to be inside the car. I don't think its a struts issue. its not a loud rattle, more of a vibration and tinkle. I notice that what looks like a glass break sensor is fitted between the rear left pillar and seat. This suggests to me that there is atleast one cable running across the parcel shelf between the shelf and the trim. That could be rattling away. The boot springs that open the boot lid could also be rattling some, as could the cabling for my parking sensors, and various other cables attached to the boot lid. all this sound could be making its way through the trim and the little vents in the trim which appear designed to enhance noise from the boot.

I had a similiar rattle on my MY04 when i picked it up. I actually replaced the seats with STI ones and the rattle didn't disappear. But after i took the the jack handle (clipped under the wooden false floor in the boot) in and out it went away, so it was either the false floor not clipped in properly or the handle. I've never heard it since

Another wild card

My MY02 had a rattle from the rear which I traced to one of the grab handles.

I got that sorted............ only another couple of rattles left !!!
