Dropped a rather large coin into the handbrake console this afternoon, inspite of the protective rubber surround. Tried to retrieve it with some blue tac at the end of a screwdriver, only to drop it deeper beyond reach. It is not rattling yet, but leaving it there bugs me and removing the two obvious screws at the side above the transmission tunnel did not free the console. What other screws am I missing?

All you need to do is remove the two screws and pull the plastic panel up over the handbrake. It really is that simple!
The peice of plastic is the one that surrounds the handbrake.

Removed the two screws on the side again, tried lifting, won't budge. Then discovered like Pete said, there is another screw in the console pigeon hole, but all the while hidden by my pile of coins. Took that out and voila, console came out, but no sign of coin. Must have dropped down in between the felt insulation and the transmission tunnel, so unless I am prepared to do major surgery and remove the seat and carpet, it will have to stay there, but out of harm way.
