Wonky Glove Box
#1
My brand new 2000 Turbo has a exceptionally poor fitted glove box. When shut, there is a 10mm gap between the dash & glove box door on one side only. I have asked the dealer to sort it but he tells me their is no adjustment!! Is he telling porkies??

They aren't the best of fits on any model, but you could try loosening the screws for the catch and re-adjusting it.
If it just on the one side, sounds like the box is warped or the runners at the bottom arent't sitting straight. Mine's a bit lower on the right side, so I think they all do that.
I don't think there's any other adjustment. Even a completely new enclosure would give you a small gap.

I had the same with my MY99 when i bought it.
Complained about it at the first service and
the garage said they would adjust it or order
me another glove box "lid" if they couldn't
get it to fit better.
They did something anyway - and it has been fine ever since and shuts nice and tight.
Keep pestering your dealer.

My glovebox is exactly the same on a my99.
The fit and finish of the whole interior is awfull end of story.
However its still the most excellent car i've owned and brings a grin every time I drive it, so i put up with the crap interior fittings and blast around the countryside enjoying myself.

My dealer told me that they would order a new glovebox at the next service, as they've seen quite a few like that and this is the way they've put the problem right.
I have however seen some adjustment on the catch securing screws - just haven't tried adjusting them yet.
Cheers

Mine was the same (MY98) and I couldn't find any adjustment. I cured it by attaching a small sticky foam pad to the rubber stopper on the highest side of the lid, if you see what I mean, and the lid now squares itself up when it's closed. Heath Robinson is alive and well

Not any more they're not
Cheers for tip on catch adjustment - still not 100% but I can't see the contents of the glove compartment without opening it any more.
