Using velcro will show the pod as being held out from the pillar.
I used a type of "gum" (sorry for being so vague here)which I found in one of the many packages of stereo equipment I have bought over the years.
As a suggestion, see your local hi-fi dealer if they can help. It's a bit like mastic but doesn't mark or stain your trim when you take it off.
Only downside i've had was during the summer with the car left in the sun and the pod came away from the pillar but it "re-sticks" to the pillar
