Question

I'm about to fit an VDO oil temp gauge. Does anybody know where to fit the sensor (e.g. oil sump) and what the correct threat size would be?

Come on all you techies out there. I know it's been done before, so please share your secrets.

If anyone has problems with the VDO gauge, I'm willing to fit another one, it's just that my local car shop stocks them.

Dan. Just fitted a Racetech oil pressure&temp gauge to my 95 WRX.
It's a mechanical gauge so i have fitted the sensor in the sump.I achived this by taking the sump plug out and drilling through it and tapping it.The sump plug is 20mm metric thread. The Racetech sensor was 3/8 BSP.For the oil pressure, take out the oil sensor under the alternator.Buy a 1/8BSP 2female 1 male T peice and 1/8BSP nylon oil line.Fit the T peice in place of the sensor, screw the oil line and sensor to the T peice. Then the other end of the oil line to the gauge.
Hope this helps Paul.

I have been in the process of fitting an Oil pressure gauge and was surprised to find that the oil pressure takeoff tap (under the alternator) was M18*1.5 thread, the only T piece I could get was far too long and I had to cut it down and rethread it to fit - Is this the same all on all the subaru engines?
