If you're going to try and order some, it helps if you ask for them by the correct name. I believe they are properly known as "Jesus Christ handles"...

Do what I did, spend 50 squid (each) on a four point harness. I bought TRS Clubman 4 point with detachable tails.

Fit them properly and they are legal (E marked). Means you can throw the car about without your passener head-butting you at each left hander.

They can be easily removed if you have rear passengers (clip-in/clip-out) and you can continue to use your normal seatbelt for short journeys etc.

I find a harness to be more comfortable than a seatbelt over long distances.

At the moment people seem to hang onto the grab handle on ceilling.. which is a little worse for wear. However, still doesn't stop them from smearing their face against the window when tanking round min-roundabouts!

Cost is a problem at the moment, because I've only just splashed out for Prodrive suspension and a service (ouch)...so I though the 'JC' handles might be the cheap option!

Having a MY95, my passengers keep falling out of their seats when I go round corners! I notice the newer cars have decent grab handles on the doors to help brace yourself against.

Is there any way to graft the newer door interior (incl. door handles) into a MY95??

That’s part of the fun!! My friend was on the phone when I spotted an EVO the other side of a mini roundabout on the way to Silverstone, dropped into second and floored it, heard a loud bang as we went round. He had hit his head on the window!! Well he should have been paying more attention.

 

Trouble is that my girlfriend keeps falling into my lap everytime I go round a left hand corner...... hold on..thats not a problem

But seriously, without going to the expense of fitting pukka bucket seats I need to solve this otherwise I get complaints when I floor it at roundabouts!

 

Hmmm...Harenesses....with "detachable tails"... sounds interesting... now where did I put my Gimp suit?

BTW. where are do attachement points for the harnesses go?

 

You will have to remove some trim to get to them, but use the normal seatbelt mounting points.

I.e. one one the floor either side of the seat. The rear tails go to the seatbelt points for the rear passenger seatbelts.

In my case (94 WRX), it was just a matter of un-bolting the standard bolts and replacing them with the supplied 'eyed' bolts. then just connect the harness to the eyes, bit of adjustment of the various straps and then I was off.

Easy squeesy.

How would fitting a harness effect insurance? I ask because i quite fancy fitting one myself.

Would they think you are going rallying and put you premium up? (i already have to pay 1750.00!!)...

Or would they think 'ooh what a safety conscious person' and lower it?

Hi..

Some insurance companies wouldnt care less...

But some do..because the are changing from the manufacturers design and safety spec...

For example... they dont auto tension themselves..... hence it is possible for you to headbutt the screen if you dont tighten them each time... stuff like that..

I'm tempted to fit some... they look cool... And if you get the right ones.... they look even better on a big breasted babe... lol
