Making seats comfortable for long journeys
#1
I recently got the standard turbo impreza, and I love the car. My only problem is I'm one of the people who find the seat uncomfortable if I have to drive for more than about 2hrs. Does anyone have any solutions for limiting the damage to my lower back? I'd prefer to stop short of putting those bead things in :-)

I find the seats very comfortable and supportive initially but they do tend to get more uncomfortable the longer you drive.
Try putting the seat into a more upright position. It feels odd to start with but if you are slouched in a reclined seat you will get more back problems.
Take a break every two hours.
If it is lack of lumbar support try a lumbar cushion.

I bought an all singing all dancing lumbar support gadget from halfords. It massages and heats and apparently provides adjustable lumbar support.
It cost about £50 but makes the seat a little awkard to sit in (less back pain though). I'm not sure I could recommend it. I may elect for a set of new recaro seats and have them recovered in the standard trim.
