Question

Does anyone know if it's possible for me to buy the Prodrive Dial kits and mat sets as fitted with the interior package to a UK car?

I asked my local scoob dealer, who said PD don't touch imports and that i couldn't get these bits separately!!

Cheers

Cool

Ohh, this is one of the few times that I would love for somebody to prove me wrong.

There is nobody out there making white dial kits for Impreza's, Lockwood are the main company in this field, they don't do one, demon ***** don't either.

Somebody/anybody prove me wrong....... Please!

Mike.

GGR do white dial kits for non-turbo UK, turbo UK and WRX cars. I would put the URL directly to the page but can't work out how to do it. It's in the interior/Instrument pods and gauges section on their website (http://www.grahamgoode.com). They also apparently do a "standard" mat set but I'm not sure what that is exactly.

Having read the replies and wanting these white dials for MY97 UK, I have just ordered them from GGR at £55. Seemed a bit expensive for some bits of white plastic but in for a penny, etc etc.

Any one got any idea how to remove enough of the dash to get behind the perspex cover ?

Mike,
Your half right and also half wrong. Lockwood have produced a white dial kit for Impreza's, but they used a Sport dash. They produced loads of them, not knowing that the Turbo dash was different. (The water temp and fuel are on different sides, and the rev counter and speedo are calibrated different).
They hope to sort it out soon.

Anybody wanting anything, get in touch with Simon at GGR, I mentioned SIDC and he gave me a decent discount on the white dial kit. £46.00 + vat & Post I think.

Pedal set is gorgeous but horrendously expensive at £100.00.

Cheers Steph. Nw I would love somebody to prove me wrong, I have looked Everywhere and can't find a single place which can supply me with a free Ferrari F355 F1, Somebody please prove me wrong.

4sale et al,

My understanding is that the whole dash needs to be removed (no problem!) and there are just 2 screws on the front. I shall be doing a fit of my white dials sometime next week, so I could post a step-by-step guide if I get enough replies. Any takers?

Shame you're after the 355 - I know somewhere that would have given you a 360 Modena....

You weren't joking about how slow it was were you!

Pilch & 4sale, there is a downloadable set of 'how to fit your dial kit' instructions (if you want to do it next year *yawns*)

I recently bought some WRX logo mats from GGR and I have to say that they were just the best fitting mats I've ever come across . . . way better than the megga expensive ones (i.e. manufacturers' own) I used to have in top drawer company cars in the bad old B.S. days

Cheers Paul,

I will check out the GGR site for more on those mats. Any idea of prices? Can they do them with yellow piping to match the seat "flashes" on my WRX?
Do they fit the foot well perfectly and fit onto the lugs correctly?

Ian, it was me you were talking to, methinks. I made a total hash of it and broke BOTH small dials! To make it worse, Mike actually broke his AFTER I warned everyone about it!! D'oh Mike! I'm extremely experienced in removing my dash now, so if anyone needs help, email me!

NickM, Stuart Page: Yes, you can BOTH get dial sets. Describe your requirements in detail, specifying the fuel and temp guages to Simon at GGR. The URL is listed above someplace, and he knows EXACTLY what we all need now, after all my ****-ups!

Simon, thanks mate, and thanks for the bulbs They look much better now, and I can see where I'm going. I didn't break them this time!

FYI, here is a list of future bodges I'm hoping to fail with:

1) Wiring my stereo alarm (Pioneer DEH7000R) to the doors. Wonder what will trigger with this setup?
2) Fit new door rain spoilers (the perspex things that go over the doors). I scratched the hell outta the car removing the old ones
3) Hmm.. Fit a quickshift gearstick. 1st gear anyone? I'll be stuck in it no doubt.
4) Ooh.. Dump valve. How does it fit exactly? 3 outputs you say? I won't need them all, will I?
5) Rear fog adapter. Guess I need to drill a rather large hole in the rear cluster and wire some switches etc. (Simon @ GGR said it was a 25cm hole? Can't be right!)
6) Sod it, I'll buy a new car!

pilch the bodger

Be very very careful when removing the needles from the dials, i was talking to someone last week who had fitted the white dial kit, and when trying to prise the needles off, had removed the internals of the needle mechanism, costing about 55 quid each unit, not cheap.

Lockwood do them in many differnet colours too, the gold ones are particularly fetching

Oh NickM, Prodrive do not sell any of the kits as seperate parts, not even to UK owners so dont feel too victimised.

Red face

Stuart.

the only way to do it is to make a very accurate diagonal cut in the very corner of the fuel gauge & temp gauge.

Slide the new front arond the dial spindle (after cutting the old one off) and then squeeze the cut area back together again.

You may need to put a very thin line of white paint over it (the cut) but most of that corner is obscured when you put everything back together again.

Mike.

Cheers Stef.

I will point out that I did not follow the above instructions when I did mine.

Nick M and others
Yellow piping on the mats is possible, just has to be specially ordered (10 days). There will be a picture of the WRX and STi logo'd mats soon.

Just to keep everyone upto date, Lockwood have said that from now on all WRX temp/fuel gauge coloured dials will be supplied with a small slit (approx 3-4mm)to aid fitment.

No need for any more Bodging!.
