Question STI? Gauges from Japan

I've seen these on www.japanparts.com. Has anyone got them and what do they think of them. Worth the money?

They are Defi gauges but just branded STi - should operate just like the original Defis that everybody knows and loves...

Jon17 - have a look at the link for the price Genome Triple Meter

Dunno about carriage costs and whether customs would clobber you for the VAT

MJT

As for value, compare the prices on Scoobymania / Nitosport etc - they look like Defi-link gauges rather than BF gauges...

Bob Rawle has these fitted to his STi 9.

They look great but are exactly the same as the Defi's apart from the STi badge.

I ended up with Defi BF's as when the ignition is off the dash and gauges are now both black.

The Gauges indeed are Defi's (Defi link Meter , not Defi Link BF ) as is the Pod (we are talking about the new STI kit available). I was speaking to a Techie in a Scoob Garage in Singapore yesterday, and he pointed out the new gauge packs available, quoting "They're Just Defi's man, with an STI logo" ------less the controller, so no trickery
I am sure the original Defi's will be much cheaper, but theres them that want a Label !!!!

Question

I’ve probably got this wrong because I don’t know anything about defi gauges, but if this pod on japanparts is the equivalent of all the standard defi stuff below is it not good value? Even after you add vat and carriage. + it will match the normal dials etc.

DF00606 Turbo φ60 Black £155.00
DF00706 Oil Press. φ60 Black £185.00
DF00906 Oil Temp. φ60 Black £135.00
DF03301 Meter Hood SUBARU Impreza GD, GG for 3 meters φ60 Dash £155.00
DF05001 Control Unit II 1 Piece Grey £105.00
PDF00903S Sensor for Oil Temp./Water Temp. 1 Piece - £45.00
PDS00703S Sensor for Oil Press. /Fuel Press. 1 Piece - £110.00
PDF00603S Sensor for Turbo 1 Piece - £65.00

Total £955

You don't need to include the sensor prices - if you buy a gauge, the respective sensor is included.

The prices you've found are for seperate sensors, e.g. if you bought the defi-link display rather than gauges as it uses a control unit and you add in whatever sensors you want...

Plus you can get cheaper prices than those at Scoobymania

try Simon at STi Racing - he's in Hong Kong but might be able to source some for you

He posts on this board as Simon Lau.

I'm so tempted, but it is a lot of money.
What do you think the best price for a standard defi set would be in the UK

It looks like they are made for Subaru in Japan because they appear in this official catalogue.

Hi,
I have just bought a set of these for my 55 plate STi type uk. I have managed to fit everything except for locating the power socket for the control unit. Any ideas where under the steering column the plug is? I have tried reading the instructions but they are in japanese.

i have these gauges.

as said they are Defi's just branded as STI Genome.

work in same way as defi's etc, just STI branded.

My full set cost me £700, which was a bargain at the time, then i added the Genome boost gauge too for £100 2nd hand.

Love them!!

You'll be hit for VAT & import duty - probably 20%, so thats approx another £200 on top of that
Then carriage - so all in all about another quarter of that price again.
