Unhappy Drivers Air Vent

have got a problem with the drivers air vent on a classic (early dash)
it used to flip one way then the other, with a kind of springy-firmness.
now it doesnt.

I've taken it out , and there is a very sorry looking spring in there, that looks detached from where its ment to be. only troulbe , is i dont see how its ment to go.

PIC
(sorry abt appaling quality at short range)

if anyone has, or can take a pic, or care to explain, that would excelent!

cheers
Steve

i know there are more important things in life, but someone must have an old / spare one lying around that they can take a look at, surely?

It never ends, does it? I've never taken my airvents out. I can do sometime this week and then take a photo if that would help.

Did you get the oil leaks stopped in the end?

no Dave, it never does!
i took mine out, and then promptly dropepd an allen key down it !
1 hrs later , with a magnet attached to a piece of string - and a game of 'Allen fishing' and i was back on track!

it was all during my 'pod' install, which subsiquently went totaly wrong - another 2.5days wasted !
so now the ****** is perminantly glued on so much , that u'd probably rip the car apart before it fell off (or , at least thats the plan!)

talking of which - i put LED's in for Knock&AFR .. so quess what im missing !

if you could take it out (really simple - just lever from front right corner) that would be gread!

cheers
Steve
DOH- oil ... no - still smoking. REALLY need to get those bits and do them- but will after getting the brakes looked at profesionally @TSL next week!

Tell me about it... I just fitted new discs and pads all round - big improvement there, but I do need to bleed the brakes again. Now I need new tyres & insurance

I'll try to get the photos done tonight. I've been told that I'm sanding a boat hull tomorrow evening.

Did you see my knocklink LEDs? It's on this thread.

I'm still using the wooden pod. But at least the oil leaks have stopped.

yeah, did -very nice - was contemplating that - but couldnt be arsed to take the whole dash out and do it like that.

i've not got a 3pod a-pillar thinige - rarther like the 2 pod in that thread, and have done similar with the Knock & Lambda lights

kind of like this

K

K L L L L L
K

which looks nice.
yet to wire up the Lambda , and have nothing to connect the Knock ones too, except a bag of bits !

cheers if u manage to photo!

Here's the photo. Hope it's the right bit! There is a little springy metal bit that sits in 3 different depressions in the plastic wheel.

I'm quite pleased with my new camera - xmas present from Mum
Did you have yours in closeup mode?

I don't think the little vent on the top of my dash moves. It could be a MY97 enhancement?
