DAM STICKY TAPE!
#1
I'm in need of some advice.
I bought a bug eyed Impreza a few months back MY00.
This might be difficult to explain. Between the rear side windows and back window you have a pillar which is between a cream and grey colour. This is made out of plastic. If you look at where the seat belts disappear in to this pillar it looks like this part of the plastic pillar can be removed. If you know what part I'm talking about this is the bit I have problems with.
The guy who had the car before had covered this plastic area with a material similar to masking tape. Last week I removed the tape but to my horror it has left all the backing part of the tape on. I have tried hot soapy water, jif/cif but the stuff will not move!
Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do?
I have thought about covering this small plastic area with a carbon fibre sheet, that way the stuff will be hidden and it might look ok.

A trick I learned by accident, (don't ask!!!):, is, spray some WD40 onto the tip of your finger, and spread it over the offending gluey substance, (don't spray it direct, as you may end up with overspray somewhere you don't want it).
Make sure you have soaked it well. Leave for about 15 minutes, and then rub off with a clean paper towel etc. Repeat if any still sticks.

I went for the WD40 option. I have to admit I really didnt think it would budge it but it did! Within 10 minutes all the sticky stuff from the tape was removed! Magic stuff!
Thanks again....

Phew! Lucky I didnt go with the nail polish remover..
When I did the sticky tape I was loaded with a can of WD40 in one hand and the wifes nail polish remover in the over.. in the end I went for the WD40 and it worked first time! I was really impressed by how easy it came off.. I really thought I was going have to take a hammer and chissel to it!

I've used nail varnish remover on plastics before not had any trouble, must admit tho not used it on interior trim. Used it to get stickers on the outside of the car. Sorry for any misinformation
