Having been used to the fantastic lateral support my old Classic seats gave me and my passengers, my new Scoob has nowhere near as much support and I was wondering if anyone new the best place to find replacements.

I'm in Leeds and use K T Greens for servicing.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Cheers.

There are two types of seat for thew MY03. buckets and sports. The sports which have the airbags are reported to be unconfortable compared with the buckets which dont have airbags in. I guess that you have the sports so best option is find someone who wants to swap or in for sale for the buckets.
Failing that a breakers for the buckets. Grade A ......

I beg to differ there is only 1 seat available for the MY03 WRX and they are a cross between the sports seats and a bucket seat and are the main reason i decided to keep my MY01 because they are awfull.

There were 2 seat choices on the 01 and 02 models but not the 03.

They had to change them to accomodate air bags which where required for safety reasons.

Cheers guys. Am I allowed to change them or they there for good due to safety regs? Can't go on much longer with these! Shame, because I can feel the chassis is stunning even without putting many miles on as yet - with less body roll than the Classic (except mine!).

It would appear that Zippy is correct, when did that happen dont rmember side airbags in the WRX at the NEC motorshow.

My guess is that if you change them there will be safety implications which I'm sure your insurance company will frown upon.

Cheers

Um - you get the choice if you buy from Europe.

Proper bucket seats with no airbags (though still slightly wider then my old MY97s)

No you dont, European cars are still the same as the UK 03 the seats are standard now across Europe.
The seats shown on this thread are from the JDM cars which are different.

Your warranty goes awol if you change the setas due to the airbag sensors which are connected to them.
Find a friendly dealer and see what they say.

Cheers guys, gonna go up to K T Greens tomorrow and see what they say. I've been looking at various options to change just the drivers seat, and if I'm allowed I'm going to try my local Larkspeed centre.

Hi Nick,

Did you get anywhere with replacing your seats. I'm trying to do the same, but my dealer wasn't too helpful, seems Subaru won't touch them cos of the airbag issue. Seems really strange that they have to have them, cos (I'm pretty sure) the STi8 does not.

If you don't KNOW for sure then say so.

Zippy is wrong.

FACT - I am just about to order a Euro import and I have the choice of sports or bucket seats. Sports have airbags but feel sh1te, buckets are very supportive and altogether loads better (the MY03 WRX bucket seats are simply the STI seats trimmed in a different material). Since I have never had a car with side airbags and its never worried me before about having them, I am deffo going with the bucket seats. Insurance is not affected as long as you declare the car as a parallel import.
