Goie aand mense, I have bought a MOMO leather gater to replace the orrible rubber shroud but, it would appear that just the leather one is not enough to do the job.

The car is a UK Turbo wagon - Sept 1996 pre facelift.

Is there anything else I have to buy in order for this to fit?.

Skoosh.

you take the platic plate of underneath the old gaitor the fold the new one over and push over the pins and put plastic trim back over.

Bah, are you sure you've fitted one to a pre-facelift classic?

I tried today for an hour and still it won't fit.....AAARRGH!

Gave up in the end.

Sk.

Do you have any photos of end result?

I have a 93WRX and I have done this change and BAHs explanation didn't make much sense to me so sounds like he may have a different model to us

Mine was just the rubber gaiter that hooked over some pins under the main centre console and hence if you remove this the Momo has nothing to cling round

What I did was make a square ring of metal out is some thing Alu sheet the top half sits just above the centre console pastic bit and the momo grips over the top of this, the bits of metal that were in the centre of the ring were folded underneath to hold onto the origonal pins. Its realy difficult to explain without pics (and before you ask sorry I haven't got any) and it looks realy taty and makeshift with the gaiter off ( icould probably do better next time) BUT with the gaiter on it looks the dogs and fits perfectly

hope this is of some use if you wat a bit more help mail me you phone number and I could give you a call to explain a bit better

That's exactly the problem I've got.

Isnt there a kit anywhere where they include one of those metal plates to put over the leather thing so it stays in place?? The local shop who have only got this sort of stuff (steering wheels, shift ***** etc.) have no complete kit anywhere. WTF?! The rubber thing looks crap and I want to change it! I took the OEM rubber thing out and cant put it back without taking the whole center console apart, it's p!ssing me off!

I think that half the problem is with replacing the centre console. You have to replace the centre console before you finalise the gaitor as there are two screws underneath it that have to be screwed in.

Hi guys,

just found some useful info off a US site about adding a leather gaitor to pre MY97 interior. Thought you might find it interesting:
