Question

Chaps,
Just a quickie,

My centre cubby lid is loose and shakes around all over the place.
Is it an easy fix or should I try and get it sorted when it goes in for warranty work tomorrow?????

Cheers in advance

Dave

Hinge mounting points have probably broken on the back.

Crap design.

Could try longer screws or sticking it back together if you can find the bits in the dash but guarantee it'll go again - mine did.

Cheers

Seems a common thing ,my Dealer tried 'tightening it '....what a load of c*ap still rattles .I've put some rubber pads on the underside of the lid to stop it ...seems to do the trick !

Good old Osbornes are fixing it for me under warranty!
Will probably go again though!
Mind you, that was the cheap bit of the warranty claim!

Got the same problem on a MY00. I tried some rubber pads on the bottom of the lid but it still rattles at the front because it's only held by the latch at the back.

Can anyone explain how to remove the console base to reattach the lid to the hinge? I tried removing the two screws underneath the lid and the ones either side of the cupholder, but I can't figure how to get it out.

Tug like f**k.

Seriously though if you pull on the clip which the lid latch catches on with your fingers that should pull the back out. Then carefully with a screwdriver (or a trim tool) push the screwdriver blade down the side of the console right next to the air vent (on either the left or right) and carefully prise the console inwards (without damaging your trim or console). Theres a lug on the console which catches behind the dashboard at air vent level. You may find putting the screwdriver slightly above the centre line of the vent is easier. Then when one side is unclipped you should be able to twist the console to unclip the other side & hey presto its out.
Whatever you do don't grab hold of the lid.

Cheers

Thanks Giz. So I'm pulling towards the back of the car, rather than up?

I remember reading somewhere on here that someone had an exploded diagram of the dash. This would be really handy. I'll have to see if I can find the thread and ask them very nicely.

Cheers,

J

Backwards and maybe slightly upwards.

It comes out eventually. Easy once youve done it once.

Cheers
