Creaking from 4dr speaker shelf
#1
Started getting a strange and fairly loud creaking noise coming from what appears to be around the speaker shelf on a 4dr. If I pull / push / prod all around the rear seats and shelf / boot area etc I cannot get it to happen to pin point it. As soon as I get on the move again it starts up again. Any ideas..... suspension top mounts???

Depending what year of car it is, it may be body flex. My MY93 WRX was really bad for this until I fitted a rear strut brace and now most of the creaks have gone.

Mine doe that, I think it's the plstic clips which hold the rear shelf to the metal work.
Remove rear sheet and stuff a load of foam between metal work & shelf and then hope it goes away.
Repeat until it doesn't do it anymore.
Also remember people having problems with trim which runs down from shelf towards bottom of door (alonside the rear seat back).
Hope this helps.

Mine does it as well - currently with no shelf cover bit on. I'm putting it down to the body flexing and the boot lid not flexing.
I need a rear strut brace There - I've justified it now

Many thanks for your suggestions.
Its a MY98, i will take a look at the clips and trim. Not sure creaking is a good description of the noise.... tonight it sounded like there was a moth in the rear screen fluttering against the glass! Noise has appeared though with this cold spell, so could be due to metalwork contracting and giving a poor fit.
