Is it right that Subaru saw fit to rid the 4 Doors of a SplitFold rear seat?

I'm about to order a new 2003 WRX, but as an only car. So whilst I appreciate that I rarely need to fold the seats, it is occasionally useful (Don't think a Christmas Tree will fit through a little ski hatch - fine in my MY97... just )

Someone tell me that I'm wrong, and that the entire bench folds down on the 4 doors, or that there's some way to retro-fit split fold seats. I really don't want to buy an estate.

Wrong on both counts, unfortunately

Push the tree through the ski hatch stump-end first

Caveat ... that's for the MY01/MY02. I don't know if the seats have changed on the new one, but I doubt it.

Out of interest...if you push it through stump end first, how you going to get it out again ? - remove one of the front seats ?

I'm assuming the tree is longer than 1 metre..

Yep that's correct no folding seats on the new age wrx's sedan's. The reason is they have 2 horizontal bars behind the rear seats that supposedly stiffen the struture (debatable). USA Wrx wagon's do have the split seats though...
