does anyone know or has found out how to solve this problem?

i have just changed the standard leather gear **** for a silver richbrook touring to match the nitrosport gaiter surround looks the dogs

but

the gearknob keeps becoming slack no matter how tight the three fastening pins are

does anyone know of a solution to stop this

Replace it with the MOMO one it looks better and matches the steering wheel!

Seriously though I packed one with gripfill to stop it loosening, was still easy enough to remove as well.

 

Get a Nitosport gearnob. The Momo ones do not hold the gaitor whereas the nitosport ones have a lip that hold the gaitor.

I got that with the satin gaitor surround & looks ace.

 

I believe I have the same one.

Is this it? If so what I found is that you have to tighten the screws equally. This stops it coming undone. Mine did that for he first couple of weeks but is now fine. Also, when it first came loose the allen key was in the boot somewhere. It's now in the ash tray about 3 inches from the gear **** and it' not come loose since. Daft really, but I've decided to keep it there.

Sorry to hijack but where's the cheapest place to get the ***** from? Looked at the link in the recent post and the website ( www.passionmotorsport.co.uk )seems to be charging Ripspeed prices. Must be a better place out there?

Had the same problem with my Racing one. Try tighting the screws gradually and apply some thread lock which did the trick.

 

The best ones I've come across are Nito's. I bought one of his nice carbon effect gear ***** and fitted it on my old MY00 - no problem. Transferred it over to my new MY01 and it's still going strong. Never had to tighten or adjust it - and it holds the leather gaitor properly aswell. Compared to the Momo one fitted to Sal's MX-5, which regularily needs adjusting and tightening
There is very little price difference between Nito's and Momo - I know where my money would be going.
