Default Sound deadening tips

Hi, I use my blobeye sti as my daily and I'm looking to add some sound deadening to it to reduce the road and exhaust noise.

I'm soon to be fitting a Genome back box as I am a little underwhelmed with the current PPP one, so I'm not trying to totally exclude the exhaust note, I just want to cut down the noise at low revs and on the motorway.

I've made a very tentative start by adding some sound deadening adhesive panels to the boot floor above the back box. My intention is to fully do the boot floor, spare wheel well, rear inner arches and boot lid. After that I may move onto the carpet and under the rear bench and front arches.

Has anyone got any tips on which areas to focus on and what are the best materials to use?

Thanks,

Pete

if your doing up inside the arches at the rear just be careful - I remember reading a few theads on the old honda forums where people had done this. When the water gets trapped in the sound deadening material it eats through the panel quicker plus if you forget to tell someone and they start cutting and welding in the area you'll be lit up in no time!

You could probably do some extra behind the rear seats and the parcel shelf just to seal off the boot noise entirely ? That and the door skins should cut down on most of the sounds.

The exhaust runs under the floor of the car and not the doors or arches. If you add deadening there you will notice a significant decrease in noise. I am not saying it should not be done anywhere else but it is an area people forget.

I am changing my interior carpet soon and will be adding a few sheets underneath before the new one goes in.
