Default gear ****

Ive purchased a carbon fibre gear **** off well known auction site and it claimed to fit 8, 10 amd 12mm gear sticks. When ive tried to fit it, it just drops straight over the threads. I thought subaru was 12mm thread?

It is...at least classic is, M12 x 1.25, Metric fine.

Are there no adaptors?

Incidentally, I hated the fit of my Momo ****, so turned up an adaptor out of alloy, drilled and tapped M6 for three stainless allen screws, and Araldited/pinned it into the gearknob.

There is one adapter for the 8mm. Its been drilled for 10mm all the way then opened up to 12mm near the end but the whole thing drops over the threads on the gear stick. I think it may have been drilled badly and am sending it back. Is the threads not the same as a classic then?

Can't say, I don't see why they would change though?

Can you not measure the diameter across the threads with a vernier etc?

Or even three wooden or lego blocks and a ruler?

All sorted. I purchased a white sti style one off the bay. Fits perfect and feels miles better than the huge momo one that was on.
