Hey everyone newbie here just looking for some advice , only been driving 1 year with 1 year Ncb I'm 25 and have my dad on my policy , not driving a scooby just yet but hoping to change that , I would really like to buy a 03 and over wrx sti impreza but having only been driving little over 1 year I doubt any insurers would touch me yet. Anyhow I tried a few quotes for a impreza gx non turbo and cheapest I got was 1100 , my problem is that I know I really want an impreza I love them but I have been told non turbo models are meant to be pants basically so would it be worth getting one or not or is there insurers that would touch me? Or am I just dreaming at the moment and should I wait a few more years till I've got that bit more Xp ? Cheers guys any advice or comments appreciated

Most specialist insurers like to see a history of performance cars so if you want an STi in a year or so you might be better off getting something like a Civic type R, focus ST or whatever, so when you get the STi you've got a history of not rolling fast cars into ditches/orphanages.

I've not driven a non turbo impreza but i'd imagine there're not great especially if your wanting it to be an STi, i'd personally find something else for a year then get what you really want.

A standard (no mods) UK turbo model may be achievable but it'll be through the comparison site insurers most likely.

I'm afraid this isn't one we can help with though.

Thanks

Get the Focus ST 2.5. It's a pretty decent car and can be remapped for good power very cheaply, plus insurers won't balk at insuring you.

It's the no claims bonus you really need to build up. I'm not much older than you and wifey and I are insuring a lightly modded 2005 STI with 3 years NCB for well under a grand.

Give it a year or so with the Focus then upgrade to a Scooby.
