Default Incompetant company

Last year I took out a new Policy on my van but due to having an accident a year earlier I was unsure what NCD I had, I rang a company up and said I had four years ncd but depending on my past insurance company policies I said it could be 3 years?

They insisted I started the policy with 3 years ncd till I could prove what discount I was due even though the extra year added £250 to my policy. I got the ncd letter from my company and it stated I had 4 years ncd so I told the new company who then refused to discount my policy and also told me if i cancelled they would charge me a £300 fee so it was just cheaper for me to let the policy run

Turns out they are still incompetantas they have sent me a renewal thru for my next years insurance and they are only quoting 4 years NCD and I actually came to them with that. They reckon my policy was setup with 3 years ncd which was basically down to them.

I should have 5 years ncd and have since contacted me old insurance company and they have sent me out another letter to prove my ncd from 2011 when I left them.

What can I do to make my current insurer to give me a letter to prove I have 5 years ncd as there is no way I'm going to stay with those idiots.

I hope this makes sense

It does make sense. I personally (although a major ache of ones testes), would get all the information together and put a complaint into the insurance ombudsman, Steve. Or at least speak with your current insurers one more time insisting if their original error is not rectified then you will indeed be taking further action.

I have spoken to them twice and they are trying to tell me I can't have 5 years ncd discount as I had an accident in in september two years ago, the accident has nothing to do with them and it happened just one week before my renewall but this company is that stupid they keep telling me that I'm wrong.

I was looking at a new insurance policy

Hmm, then all I could suggest is the insurance ombudsman route...

Or try pm Moley on here Steve? Sure he could offer good advice.
