Default What's the deal with insuring a car fully comp and being able to drive other cars...

If insured fully comp, over 25 (Maybe different with other companies.) and obviously depending on the insurance company, can you drive other cars on the same policy third party?
I always thought you could and was looking forwards to this when i turn 25, but today i was talking about it to a friend and he thinks the car you want to drive on third party needs to be insured by someone else?

Thanks

Indeed he is correct. your policy needs to state your allowed and the car you want to drive needs to have a policy in place on it.

Yeah that's right you cant drive an uninsured car on your insurance but you can drive somebody else's that already has insurance with 3rd party cover of your insurance.

The reason being (i was told years ago) all the time you're in the car it's technically insured, but the moment you step out the vehicle you're leaving an un-insured car on the public road, which the Police can do you for.

(i think that's the reason anyway)

Also, NEVER assume you have the 'driving other car' included, ALWAYS check your certificate to make sure.

+1

When I had my 205GTi insured with Gary, I'd just turned from 24 to 25. The car was having its cambelt etc. done at a local garage and they give me a hire car for the night. Little did I know until calling Gary I was driving it uninsured! No extra charge but a couple sentances of wording on my policy that could have seen me getting fcuked!
