Default Modified insurance guide price

Hey all

thinking about getting a Scooby again and as almost all ive seen are modified im wondering if its possible to get a reasonable quote without telling porkys to the insurers which i dont want to do..

ive had some quotes online for standard WRX and STI's coming in at about £500-£600 fully comp for me and mrs ages 43 and 38 full ncb clean licenses and fairly low risk area (south Essex), but most cars seem to be tuned/mapped to around 330bhp etc etc.

so looking for some examples of what you guys are paying...

cheers

According to what I have been advised by the insurance companies the actual mods dont make a huge difference to the price. this was with specialised scoob insurers no doubt this would not be the case with ordinary insurance companies

My scooby only has an exhaust so that never made much difference in quotes, but my last car was a modded jap import. As said above you'll find specialists will charge next to nothing for fairly substantial mods but the 'mainstream' people will ask you to bend over! So best bet is to get on the phone to the likes of Sky, A-Plan etc

Some companies actually prefer insuring modified cars.

funny you should say that as our current car is pretty high to insure and its only a standard Land Rover Discovery, in fact its about the same quote as we got for a standard STI

I have uprated brakes, 17 inch alloys, rear valance from a GB270 and Prodrive backbox. I paid £850. Cheapest quote if standard was £600.
