hi all ,

i am new for this kind of insurance thingy .. i just bought a imported sti and can't get the quote for insurance ..

here is my situation ..

i want to ship the car to my country next january which is 9 months from now on .. originally it was ok just to keep the car, tax it and garage it before i ship the car .. however, due the this new insurance regulation, now i have to insure the car if i want to keep it, eventhough it's garaged.

sorn is not really an option for me since i need to have proof of some sort of insurance or road tax before i can ship the car .. is there any type of insurance that can suits my needs ? i have heard about lay up cover, but not sure how it goes in MID system as well as can i use it to renew the tax if needed

I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE THE CAR AT ALL FOR 9 MONTH, when the shipping time comes, i will hire a tow truck and get it transferred to shipping company ..

is there not some form of collectors policy for garage/collection only purposes ie fire/theft only ?

well if someone can offers me the quote, i am very glad to hear.. what happen is as soon as i call insurance company, the 1st think they ask is do you have any experience in this sort of car .. well i would say i have lot of experience driving 250 -300 hp car but its in my country, not in uk .. then they can't cover me because of no experience

is there any policy for fire/theft with 0, yes it's ZERO, mileage at all ? i am not going to drive the car at all for 9 month just want to have the insurance so i wont get trouble with MID database?

really hope u guys can point me to the right direction .. Thanks in advance
