My details: I drive a Saxo VTS (group 14) and have only been insured in my own name for a full year (parents policy since 17- doh). That year was a free year as part of the deal to buy the VTS and at renewal - because I'd been good and hadn't claimed - I got offered the equivilant of a full NCD and as such my renewal was £600 and that is with NCD protection - I'd saved £1500 expecting it to be that much!!

I've asked several members of staff at Citroen Insurance if I can change the car and they all say that I can and subsequently have quoted me about £900 for an MY99 Impreza. Clearly if I phone other companies I can only declare a 1 year NCD and the quotes are nearer double so I'm sort of tied to CI for a while. My question is, has anyone else had this deal through Citroen Insurance or any other similar deal and changed the car, i.e. upgraded the car If so any problems or pitfalls?

Many thanks in advance.

450 big ones till I'm 25 but I can live with that - seems reasonable for a performance car at my age.

Saxo Boy
I had a simlair situation some years ago but with Nissan where they gave me one years free insurance on an new Almera GTI, speaking to the insurance company (RAC), Nissan apparently bought a block of insurance and insured everyone as having max no claims bonus. After the first years free insurance had run out I rang around several different insures but no one would come close to the renewal that RAC had sent me as they still classed me as having full protected NCB. I had changed the car by the time the third year insurance was due and they where still the cheapest by some way !!
They only lost out on the renewal a year later (roughly same price) but no personal theft cover from a soft top !

Cheers rsarjantson I figured that's the way it would probably work that in a few years time the other companies would become as competative - it seems that just now though I'm pretty well sorted considering I've only had my own policy for a year.
