Default Brokers... HOw important is it to have Tracker for your policies?

been having a think today and with the recent increase to the Trackstar subs and the increase that will happen with the VAT rise i'm paying at least £160 a year.

So, if i don't have it will my premium go up beyond that amount (about 25% increase) ?

or could it restrict the policies available to me?

I'll be honest if the car gets nicked i don't want it back, so Trackstar is purely an insurance outlay, i don't even remember it being asked for my current policy

Can anyone provide some info please?

Cheers,
Paul

They aren't needed with a lot of companies, enless the car is over £20k, or is in a high rated postcode

is that applicable to your company Moley?

i'm insured through you, and have been for the last couple of years, the only thing i don't want to do is shut the door on some policies that might offer better premiums/coverage because they insist on Tracker.

just trying to weigh up all the info to make the right choice.

cheers

We deal with about 5-6 companies for the Subaru's, but most are in the same position. Give me a call or a pm and i'll check for you.

The money you spend on a tracker will not be recouped in a saving on your insurance.

And if you have declared everything on your insurance, everything is in order and then your car is pinched, do you really want it back? If you have the tracker activated, you will get what once was your pride and joy back.

That's a good point, although I guess it can depend on how customised your car is, if my pride and joy went missing, I would most definitelty want it back, even if just to strip her.

when i first bought my WRX 18mths ago, i had to have a tracker in order to cover me against theft.

Now however it seems to be a different story, i think because of the majority not wanting a vehicle back if it was stolen! I certainly wouldnt want it back, however much it was modified as all my mods are covered

True also, didnt think of it that way. You would imagine most theives would stick it in a lockup and remove all the bling, but some just steal them for old fashioned, sentimental reasons, ie. driving it like they stole it!

I've put so much time, money, blood sweat and tears into my Mr2, even if there was just a small bit of it left, I'd want it back; shameless photo opportunity!!

exactly.

no, i wouldn't want it back. it would be ruined in my eyes.

anything could have happened to it and i'd forever be thinking that and worrying about it.

obviously everyone looks at it in different ways, that's just my view
