Best Way To Insure A Second Car?
I'm half thinking of buying a 4x4 for over Christmas, and driving to slovakia (should be cheaper than flying with 5 of us).
Whats the cheapest way to insure the car, and best person to own it?
As I own an Impreza, and insure that Fully Comp, and can drive any car 3rd party as long as I don't own it. Which would be fine, as the 4x4 would be cheap as chips.
My girlfriend owns a mini, and insures that Fully Comp, and can drive any car 3rd part as long as she doesn't own it.
My girlfriends sister has a license, doesn't own any car (and never has), and is a named 2nd driver on her sisters insurance.
Or will we have to pay for some form of insurance?? As I will be driving, so would like to use my 'drive any car 3rd party for free'.
Could my girlfriend own the car, but not insure it?? Then me drive it?
I want to do it all legal, but as cheap as possible
We wouldn't be keeping the car for too long, so could get temp insurance, but would rather pay nothing extra.

To be legal the vehicle must have a policy active on it, who drives it is secondary.
Ideally you and your girlfriend would both be named drivers for example, Skiing is quite dangerous ?

hmm, so we will have to pay for the insurance either way....she is with Direct Line, so may be cheaper for her to own and insure it perhaps, then me drive it. I'm with A-Plan so will give them a call as well.
lol, skiing isn't too bad, I'm ****e at it though! Still learning. My girlfriend is Slovakian, so that's the main reason for going over there.
