Hi guys - How much should I expect to pay for one day's cover - and who do you recommend?

Car is a P1 with mild mods.

Thanks!!!

Going rate is about £10 per £1000 of cover plus broker fees etc (£20 or thereabouts), with an excess of about 10% of the vehicle value. Cover is usually:
  • The cost of parts
  • Repairs to parts
  • Fabrication
  • Specialist Labour
  • Engine & Transmission (due to impact damage)
  • does not include routine dismantling and reassembly, or engine and transmission due to mechanical failure.
Try competition car insurance as they're well respected.

Or, if your road insurance is with Keith Michaels, it's £60 for the day to extend your normal cover to the track, except the excess goes to £1500.

Also very worth it in my experience.

£170 it cost me for my hawkeye.
£1600 excess.

However when I hit a wall and did £5k's worth of damage I was more than happy to pay the excess.

i thought that the track day insurance was only to cover third parties?
thats what greenlight told me, and it was £50 per event with them.

That may be true of Greenlight, but not for Keith Michaels

Yes - as far as I know (and certainly the £60 I'm refering to is for existing policy holders of KM).

Re the above - From speaking with AON (recommended by one of the track organisers) they seem to be saying that the cover is only in relation to damage and fire to my car, and hence not to Personal Injury/third party liability, to myself, or others, as we are likely to sign a waiver re these types of liability at the track (i.e. I can't be sued if I take out the Vanquish owned by one of our main clients...).

does that sound right from others experience?

Thanks!

p.s. quote for my P1, which I valued at 15K, was £177 (with £1500 excess). Had one lesson with the legend that is Don Palmer, and I'm 29 - which were the only questions asked...

I have done a few track days and I seem to recall having to sign waiver as well.

Hi Guys,

Just to clarify, Greenlight's track cover where available is usually £50.00 per event and the standard policy excess doubles whilst on track.

The cover is for damage caused to your vehicle whilst upon track.

As identified, with most tracks/events disclaimers are signed by all concerned and drivers are upon the track by understanding that they are there at their own peril and waive any right to claim for injury/damage sustained upon track from third parties (ie the track/organiser, plus other participants).

Our track option is available as an add on under some of our schemes and can be added to most of our policies on a per-event basis for those of you that are currently covered by us.

Kind regards & hope this helps

Tony
