Default hey boys and girls new guy here having trouble :(

hi guys and gals new to the forum just wanna say great place and ppl seem very helpful and friendly. ive always loved impreza's just never been able to afford one but finally i can i went to look at a lovely import at a garage a few weeks ago and fell in love with it so put down a deposit...its a 94 wrx sti in dark blue. its only just got into this country so got a few dings here and there so its been sent away to a bodyshop to have it all sorted by the garage should have it by middle of next week ...fingers crossed

my only problem now is the insurance i tried so many diff companys and all i had so far is "we dont insure imports" "sorry you need to be 25+ for impreza's" or "you need to have owned a 200bhp+ car for a year at least" its really driving me mad i managed to get 1 quote so far that was 2300 fully comp ir 1700 third party only. has anyone got any good sugestions for ins companys to try based on the fact the car is an import and its my first 200bhp+ car.

im 23, 2 years ncb, had my full liscence 5 years, no claims or convictions and the car is fitted with full cat 1 imob and alarm. im pretty sure my postcode is a low crime area too (yo8) car is to be kept on drive way too. not sure if my occupation makes any diff but im a courrier covering roughly 37,000miles a year.

any help would be much appreciated i know theres a few insurance guys who are members of this site so hopefully you could help me as i really want the chance to get this car and be a proud scooby owner

thanx in advance

The 2 main ones to try are A Plan (I am insured with them for my import) and Keith Michaels, you need to speak to Gary. If you look at some other threads you can find Garys number as you will need to speak to him direct.

A plan have a link somewhere so give them a call as well.

Hello Mate,
Just scan the hundreds of posts before yours... You are not alone in asking but there are alot of company names that continue to pop up... Greenlight etc.

thanx for the replies guys, just in process of trying some of your suggestions, moneysupermarket gives a fair few decent quotes, just gotta ring the companys thereselves to see if they cover imports and gonna give gary a ring tomora.

yeah i had my liscence 5 years i had 1 years NCB from my first year of driving then i went onto my dads insurance for 2 years, when i went back to start a new policy with a diff ins company they wouldnt accept my other years no claims wish i never did it now.

i dont really wanna buy a UK scooby as the imports seem to be so much better condition bodywise and the one i am getting is immaculate inside and out and underneath it is spotless so maybe high insurance for a year is the only way i guess.

lol the 37k i meant is in my work van
