Sport like a WRX huge insurance jump
Hi all I have been offered a Impreza Sport (estate) for a good price but it has the WRX body kit on it .
Im really not bothered about this but it pushes the premium of my car up too high im getting quotes of 800 to 1000 as opposed to 500 on the standard sport.
I really dont care if it gets nicked or smashed up as the price of the car wont be worth claiming for on the insurance.
If I insure it as a standard sport will I still be covered (apart from theft and them paying out to me to fix the car), as there has been nothing done to the car to improve performance, its just cosmetic. Like I say I wouldnt expect a payout on stolen or fire anyway.
Cheers all

Morning Fisticuffs,
Vehicle modifications represent material information which is disclosable to all Underwriters and deliberate non-disclosure would be regarded as fraudulent activity for material gain, so I would not advocate taking this approach.
To clarify, we would not look to levy the premium of a sport model excessively, or unfairly rate a sport as a WRX just because of the body styling.
We do tend to be tiered and more competitive for the higher performance models, but would be happy to assist you in sourcing cover.
If you'd like to see what we can do simply log onto Welcome to Greenlight Insurance, Modified Car Insurance Specialist or call us on 01277 263030 for a quotation.
Kind regards
Tony

Cheers for the reply Tony
Looks like I live in a rough area, cant get a quote from Greenlight due to postcode.
All other insurers are quoting the massive jump in premium for the modifications, looks like ill be looking for another sport without mods on. Shame the car is in good condition for its age and good mileage, just a shame about the bodykit.
Thanks again
