Default insurance claim

I had a ding recently and am in the process of going to the garage to get an estimate. My question is do the insurance companys inspect the car after every quotation from the garage?

My car needs a new wing and the door filled and blended in. had a quote from a local coachworks and they said about 800-1000.

Would the insurance company be bothered to inspect my car with this minorish claim?
Please help

yes if it is not going to an approved garage they will want to check that the car is descibred as says on the insurance and damaged as per claim.

insurance will check every claim, but they now use a few computer based systems, mainly auda-entaprise and glassmatix, these are all online now, so all we do is make an estimate up on the pc, send the images through and then they asses from there.

sometime independant assors will come out, it really depends upon the insurance company.

i have had labour figures as small as £100 assessed before now lol.

if you take your car to a non-apporved shop, the ins may not cover you for a courtesy car,

but just so you know:

YOU CAN TAKE YOUR CAR WHERE YOU LIKE, APPROVED OR NOT-ITS YOUR CHOICE
