Question insuring modifacations

i currently own a 2001 wrx, buit am looking to buy a 2002 with less mileage.

when i took this newer one out for a test drive it felt noticeably quicker than my current one, as though it has been re-mapped or something.

when i asked the salesman if this was the case he was adament that it is totally standard.

where do i stand with my insurance if it does turn out to be modified if i've told them that it is standard (which is what i'm being told)?

any help would be appreciated

regards
anthony

i was more wondering whether or not the insurance company would expect you to get some kind of check for these kind of things???

They will find anyway to get out of paying so if your car is modified and you tell them its standard they may refuse to pay out.
