Question

Hi,
I've had my Scooby 2 months and have insured it through Privilige.
I'm 22 with 5 years no claims/pass plus (extra 10% off EVERY year!) and I'm paying just over 900 quid FC, which I don't think is too bad. The car is insured as standard, but the previous owner made a few modifications. I was wondering; a) how much I should inform Privilige and b) how much extra I'm gonna have to fork out?
The car is a MY97 saloon with 17" prodrives, magnex exhaust, high rear spoiler, twin h/lamp conversion. My olg GTI was modified and after declaring this, any other minor mods made no difference.
Hope I get's some replies to this (my first) post!
Cheers, J

I think you'll find that if you had a prang and they discovered the mods (by the sound of it very easily!) then they would probably not pay up and leave you liable.

I would definitely notify them.

Notify them ASAP is all I would say.

Hi Jamie,

Declare it, it's worth it in the long run, especially if you do 3rd party damage, and the insurers won't pay out leaving you personally liable.

I notice you're also in Hampshire, welcome! See you around sometime maybe.

Cheers for the replies, I think I'd be stupid not to let them know about any modifications.
On the plus side my car passed it's MoT first time today - it's only 4 years old but as I bought it privately it's a relief that it didn't need any work etc.
Might as well get myself a 57i kit now!

Cool

Definately tell em as previously mentioned. I am also currently with privilege aka direct line & as a 24 year old with 2 years ncb they told me that my premium for my newly aquired MY97 in 100% original spec would increase from £1458 to £1947 if i upgraded air filter, exhaust etc in such a way as 2 get up2 an extra 10% power. So it duz cost but this is inevitable & telling them is as already mentioned by my predicesors a necesity!
