Default Gap Insurance

Anyone use this??
I've been quoted 3 years for £134 with a 5k limit. Could be worthwhile for any car that depreciates quickly. Also the car I have has difficulty getting panels so some are written off without too much damage.
Any opinions

not worth the paper it is written on to be honest unless you have a huge finance settlement on the car. I used to work for insurers that underwrote these policies and 99p per £ goes into commission either for the dealer of the finance company/manufacturer.

hardly ever any claims where there is a balance to pay out.

No - no finance on the car but thinking if the car got written off in an accident the ins co payout is always well below the price paid for the car. This then would make up the difference surely?

http://www.surfandprotect.com have decent prices for GAP Insurance. They also do Replacement GAP which covers the difference between Insurance Payout and the cost of replacing the car New for Old.
