My insurance is up for renewal soon as I have had some corkers of quotes:

Me: 29,4 years NCB (protected),SP50 in 97, £400 claim last year. GF: 33,license 1 year, own car, no problems.

94 WRX Auto, Link ECU, full exhaust, uprated wheels/brakes/suspension, £9K declared value:

Privilege £2004 (?) £500xs
Barclays £1894 £100xs (fixed xs - underwritten by Privilege!)
Greenlight - wouldn't quote (on-road & mods)
Keith Michaels £930
OPi - wouldn't quote (under 30)
Adrian Flux - Tim couldn't be bothered! (aka "What's your best quote ? ... oh, we won't be able to get close to that!")

I'm awaiting a couple more back but this is a bit of a shock to the system - £880 NU last year.

Cheers Graham S for the list

Thanks

Gavin

Give Bell Direct a call, they are coming up with some of the best quotes for Supras.

I agree with you about Adrian Flux, I thought they were supposed to be good. The guy I dealt with was dim to say the least.

here goes then, for comparison
age 33 driving a version2 sti type RA with no mods (do i need any ) ?
garaged thatcham cat 1
sp30 last year, 7 years ncb protected
last year £647 with Flux
this year they want £784
best so far is Aplan at £750 so i am still looking.
funny thing though, even some places that claim to deal in imports don't have the type RA or type R listed, just the wrx and sti. I did explain that it is basically the STI with no comfort but i got refused due to it not being listed
I tried it on with one place and suggested that they should quote less for me because of the lack of air-con, electric windows, audio etc on the grounds that there was less to replace in the event of a claim, but they failed to see the funny side of it

Gavin.

Try Greenlight again, ask for Tony, (owner)don't settle for anyone else. tell him I suggested calling.

This is really odd, yours is exactly the type of car they specialize in. Somebody else had a similar problem recently, called back spoke to Tony and all was sorted. ?

My insurance jumped this year.

STi 5 type R, V ltd. 1999.
All mod's listed in advance of fitting, AP 6 pot Brakes, 17" wheels, 3" Twin dump exhaust, Ram Pod induction kit, Stereo, Link ECU, Suspension, ALK, ARB's, Tinted front windows (side) + various others. £940
I'm 34, Full NCB protected, SP30 1998 garaged, 24Hr Tracker, cat 1 alarm

Everyone else was WAY over that!

Mike.

Cool

Blackadder,

Nice try with the "it should be cheaper" line. I suspect those nasty schemeing insurance companies might realise your car has significantly higher performance than the more luxurious (!?) standard wrx or wrx sti models.

moray : i figured why not try the cheeky approach
eventually got insured for 737 which is 90 more than last year
I figure that the fuel is more of a rip off really but at least you pay that weekly.
