They were the best for me as well (MY00 +magnex + 17's) + knew what they were talking about. Beat all except my existing insurer by £350+++ In the end stayed withe Catterall cos they matched the quote

Sadly for me, Greenlight don't seem to appreciate my ten+ years of no accident driving, five of which are backed up with a letter from my previous insurers and zero points on my licence. This is because my current record is for driving a company car, and they want a personal no-claims history. Quote for a MY01, no-mods, decent post-code, over 40 years old = GBP1,700+!!
Shame! They seemed very clued up on the phone, but the underwriters put their foot down

When I phoned up to insure my MY98 Terzo no mods, 30 yrs old full NCD + IAM advanced test + SIDC member + CAT1 alarm & immobiliser + Tracker they would`nt insure me as I`d just bought the car Why was that? its not like I`ve just passed my driving test in a metro & wear a baseball cap on back to front. They said phone back next year when you`ve got a bit of experience with the car!!! The cheek!!!

Tried Greenlight after I got a quote for £650 from "Elephant" for my UK300. The guy was quite upfront said there was no way they could match that & doubted if I could get it better elsewhere. I nice not to get he "hard sell" so I'll remember that for next year.

Lee,
I can see where you're coming from but I can also see where Greenlight are coming from too. They have a very particular criteria you have to meet for them to insure you (they don't cover Jap imports either). This strict criteria comes from close scrutiny at the Impreza claims history which gives people who do fit a very good price .
I'm guessing that there is a higher than average claim rate for people who have had an Imprexa less than 1 year than those that have owned one more than 1 year.
I know it sucks , but next year you'll be in the position to take out insurance way below any other player in the market and then you won't complain

I think it's good they check out the drivers history of cars... stops people who aren't used to the power putting premiums up
I just got insured with them, and they asked quite a few questions about my previous car (E36 BMW M3) - after they had gone through that they were happy that I could be insured with them.... really knew their stuff and gave me an excellent quote
