Neanderthal,
Don't bank too much on a discount when you get to 25.
I turned 25 last week, so I phoned my insurers (Tesco) to see if I could get a discount. A grand total of £17 (on a £475 premium)! Seeing as I have had the plan for less than a yaer, I would get charged 10% (£47) to stop the existing cover and start a new one - definately not worth it!
I have spoken to some of the insurers from this board, and they have advised that most insurers will only give a small reduction when you reach 25, but the advantage is more insurers will touch you.
Another benefit is my excess has dropped from £400 to £150 - so maybe it was worth it!
Daniel
PS - I drive a '97 UK Impreza Sport
