Default Insurance Problems

A mate of mines just had a problem with his insurance, I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise that I can pass on to him.

Basically he got a quote from A&A which he accepted having paid his deposit and his first monthly payment he then received a letter form A&A claiming that he had been under quoted and that they needed another £600 on top of the £2150 original quote or he wouldn't be covered.

As far as im aware all the details on the car and on his driving history where correct.

Can insurance companies do this?

If it was a high street retailer that had wrongly priced something and you bought it ,they cant come after you complaining that they undercharged you over a month later.

I'm no legal nut but i'd guess they're contractually bound to the prices agreed originally by both parties.
I'd be contacting trading standards ASAP

AFAIK If he got the policy documents with his full details along with original price BEFORE they wrote and asked for an extra £600 they have to honour it. If not they can write and say this was a missquote, if not happy they have to give the first payment back....insurance companies, fookin bast**ds!!!
