Modification Friendly Insurers
I had an unusual conversation with my insurers on Friday. I had enquired as to the increase in premium should I fit a non-standard downpipe and mid-section. The insurers had asked for a 10% lump sum increase in the premium, despite the fact that I only had 6 weeks of the policy to run. I declined the offer.
Various questions were then asked about the modifications I've already got covered (wheels, back box, ITG filter) 'for our records only'.
A previous unpleasant experience involved my premium going up by 100% at renewal, when the broker suddenly realised they hadn't adjusted the premium for modifications. This was despite numerous calls and letters confirming the specification of the modifications on the car. The identity of the broker will remain concealed, however it is someone who is very highly regarded on this board.
I am now worried that this scenario is going to happen again. It all seems a bit of a minefield to me

Does anybody know of an insurer that can handle the technicalities of modified Imprezas?
I would like some degree of comfort that the person on the end of the phone actually understands my requirements and quotes a premium that actually does cover the car as it stands. My renewal is late-Feb, so I thought I'd start doing a bit of 'leg-work' now.
