Question

Had a Cat 1 alarm installed on my recently acquired MY98 yesterday. Phoned the insurance co (AXA Direct) this morning expecting to get a bit knocked off the premium only to told that because it already had an immobiliser (the standard one without Thatcham approval) the premium wouldn't go down any further. Not a happy bunny even if I am going to sleep a bit easier at nights!

Seems pretty strange to me - although I was a bit surprised to get cover without the Cat 1 alarm in the first place. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Well I got the same treatment and a renewal price of £781 for MY97 And I cut my costs
by half try INSURE.CO on the net they want proof of no claims and details of your alarm
along with fitting certificates they made me smile ! ( got a quick shift with the difference) JCY

Thumbs up

I have no probs with AXA. Was 25 when first insured MY98 scoob with them and it is "only" £600 with 3 points and 1 claim. Claim was sorted very quick too. Happened the day before going to Thailand for two weeks. Went in same day and was finished a couple of days after my return

Thanks for the comments - at least I'm not alone.

Have to say that I'm not complaining about AXA's premiums - about £620pa which is pretty reasonable compared to some of the numbers people are quoting. It would just have been nice to pay less!;0
