Hi,
I've just cancelled by Admiral policy which happened to be one of those 10 month jobs. Personally I think it's a complete rip-off.
AXA Direct were £700 quid cheaper and that's over 12 months. Look at the cost per month to see if it's good value or not.
The Admiral policy did show 2 years NCD, but there was some small print underneath saying "gained over 1year 10 months" so it's not so clear cut.
It really depends on the other insurer, so I'd phone round just in case. Don't take out the policy assuming they will; you'll only regret it.

Chris,
It's really up to the insurance company as to whether they accept the NCB. For instance, some insurance companies will take a 'no claims while using company car' letter from your company car insurance as NCB earned.
I had 3 yrs NCB earned on the Admiral scheme taken by my current insurance company - so clearly some companies do accept it. However, I tend to agree with Ozzy - it is a bit of a rip off since you'll probably get a better deal if you keep at it and ring around. Just be a bit *economical* with the truth and someone should match Admirals 10 monther with a 12 month policy!
