jus wondering cos as im only here half the time and surly that makes my car less at risk of being in an accident.
wonder would it be possible to make the insurance only TPF&T while im offshore and fully comp when i am here?

This is a hard one. I work 10on/off and asked elephant the same thing as I kept my car at my mums house which has a much lower risk rating when i am away. After a few calls they actually cancelled my policy. After much argueing they continued cover until I was due to go away again. They said that I could not leave the car for more than 28 days at a time. That was me the policy holder and it didn't matter if a named driver was using the car or not. This wont affect you but it is something to bear in mind.
I also asked about suspending the policy but got told no and after some thought I decided it was simpler to keep a simple year long policy. It means the ncb keeps going and is all in all less hassle

barsteward being 22 i thought it would be a cheaper way of insuring the car.
could also insure the car and just change the policy from the impreza to another car every time i go away and change it back whenever im here. bit of a pain but would save me a fortune!!

You can try that but doubt you will get much of a refund. Some companies also charge an admin fee for such changes which negates any benefit.
The other thing is that you will loose your theft insurance.
